Stories about those days.

The stories that people have about Jamie’s photos are a source of amazement.  Some are of the “that’s me and we were doing this” type of stories from Jamie’s friends. Some are the “I never met Jamie but this was taken on my birthday and it means a lot to me. And some are just stunningly moving one of a kind stories.

Just finished this year. Seemed like a dark & moody one. I wonder if he was going through something. I feel like the photos were heavy even though many of them weren’t about much- lots of blur and textures. Not as many faces. Mood didn’t really pick up until summer months. Lots of laughter in previous years, not so much this one. Seemed kind of hazy.

I had deja vu when looking at late September-early October.

This is also the day I was born. I live in Ontario, but it was an unusually hot summer, and my Mother would spend the days leading up to my birth sitting in my 18 month old brothers kiddie pool to cool off.
I am very artistic and always have been. I love to create with what ever i can get my hands on. I would always get in trouble at school drawing on all my assignments or half-assing the written part of the “write a story and draw a picture to go with it” projects.
When I was in High school, my dream was to become a theatrical stage artist, or movie special effects artist. but life happens….. and I’m ok with that. because I love where I am now.

This photo is a great representation of my life.

Okay, I will tell you all about May 4, 1982. I will make a research & select in google.

    * Twenty sailors are killed when the British Type 42 destroyer HMS Sheffield is hit by an Argentinian Exocet missile during the Falklands War.

    * Twins rookie outfielder Jim Eisenreich, who suffers from Tourette’s Syndrome, removes himself, due to taunts from Red Sox bleacher fans.

    * 11 minutes of commercial breaks from the night of May 4th, 1982. These commercials were shown during NBC’s “GEORGE BURNS’ 100TH BIRTHDAY SPECIAL” broadcast. See this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utLigrF2VFY

    * [May 4, 1982 calendar] The next time you can reuse your old 1982 calendar will be in 2021.

    * Kleopas Giannou (born 4 May 1982 in Peristeri, Athens) is a former Greek footballer.

    * Markus Antonius Rogan (born 4 May 1982 in Vienna) is a retired Austrian swimmer, who won two silver medals at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece and a gold medal for 200 m backstroke at the 2008 World Short Course Championships in Manchester.

    * Georgios Tsiaras (alternate spelling: Giorgos Tsiaras) (born May 4, 1982) is a Greek professional basketball player who plays for Apollon Patras of the Greek Basket League.

    * Vera Schmidt (born 4 May 1982, Miskolc, Hungary) is a Hungarian pop singer-songwriter who rose to popularity after placing fifth in the Hungarian version of Pop Idol Megasztár. She is a student in Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest.

    * And, this day (May 4, 1982) is may special day… HELLO WORLD!!!

Just finished this year. Definitely more abstract than the last, & focused on more objects, shapes, light than ’79. Still a year filled with people. I’m wondering if he has a daily routine or not, and if not, how he managed that. Also curious about who the reoccurring old man is- father? Grandfather?

Anyway I’m feeling inspired to start my own photo of the day. What’s the modern version of that- instagram? I’ll probably make a private one. Seems like this project was something personal, for himself. Think mine would be, too.

Just finished this year. Something that struck me was how surrounded by people he is. I can’t imagine being with someone every day, experiencing that in the photos was kind of tiring but everyone seems so happy.

On this day I was born. I like that he was going through records and tapes. It’s funny because my mom didn’t like my taste in music and I was a late teen before I had the money to buy music for myself. I used to make mixed tapes off the radio just to get the songs I liked. My first tape I bought was Green Day. Now as an adult I have ample music subscription and I’m never without music I like but my passion is reading and science.

Why is this picture identical to the next one? Is it how it was intended? Are they two different photos in fact, recreated meticulously? (Would that even be possible, with Polaroid?) Is that the only case of missing/misplaced/mysteriously repeating pictures?
And why does my birthday have to look like this? A weird photograph, not something bright and fun and easily classy I could have shared online to enjoy a small surge of attention. Polaroids are trendy now, but dark and odd pictures like this are among the reasons behind the bulky momentary camera’s decline. Once you make it you cannot unmake it; once you take it you cannot give it back. Polaroids are eternal. Polaroids are ephemeral. If you cut a Polaroid photograph it leaks and smudges. Its mystical chemical integrity breached, it is destroyed.
A strange man. A question mark. A mirror, a kitchen – seems to sum up my life attitude. And pajama pants exactly like those I’m wearing right now as I’m writing this, a story of a picture that may or may not have been made on my birthday. Even here, on the picture project I accidentally stumbled upon and likely will forget about in a day or two, I cannot be free of doubts.
