I was at a cook out at a family members house. Actually it was at their neighbor’s. I remember we were all inside that evening waiting for the Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield rematch to start. I think me and my cousin were playing some weird board game and listening to music before the fight came on. Most of the adults were in the back room watching the fight while most of the other kids were out in the living room with us along with a married couple that I have never met. All of us in the living room wanted Mike Tyson to win while most people in the back wanted Evander Holyfield to win. Everyone in the back room started chanting Holyfield to mess with us and we ” Tyson! ” and it went on back and forth for a few minutes. Then the fight came on. It did not go past the third round because this is the fight where Tyson bit off a piece of Holyfields ear. One of the best nights of my life. Except for the ear biting that wasn’t so great. This was two months before my fourteenth birthday.

My 18th birthday. Oddly enough, this man reminds me a bit of my best friend’s father.

Love this collection. As a photographer, I deeply appreciate the dedication it took to continue taking a photo every day. I especially love that these are Polaroids. They’re may favorite kind of images because they are so intimate. You have to get up close and personal to view them. They sort of invade your private space.

So strange this is the day I came in to the world. I first clicked on the Fourth of July thinking it was the third and felt no connection. Then I saw this pic and oddly felt a connection then realized this is the third . Truly amazing it looks like a deli Or butcher shop and my father is butcher it reminds me of visiting him at work on Saturdays as a kid. he was coolest most important man in the world and still is .
