This day my maternal grandfather, Pepe, passed away. He was 83 years old, had been a sergeant in the Spanish army, and left him for my mother (she had many bronchitis when she was little) to move to another city with a better climate for his health and he began to work as a secretary in the town hall . When he died, I was only 4 years old. Although I was small, I have memories of him when I sat on his knees and he told me stories and stories, besides he always bought me many packages of chips :D. He loved me very much and according to my mother, I have taken his way, was a very good person, and I am very happy for it

This is the day I was born. At about 7:20 pm. I guess it was a difficult birth. From what im told, and the pictures ive seen of my self as a new-born, I had a large, purple, bruised head; and I didnt have enough oxygen in me to start, so the doctors had to work on me for a bit. My mom was staying in the hospital and asked them to induce her so she didnt have to wait another nine days. But in the end we made it and we’re fine for the most part I guess.

This was the day that as a 14yr old, I met and fell in love with my future husband. We lost touch in our early twenties, but met up again and married when I was 30. That was ten years ago now, and two kids later, I still love him as much as when I first met him on this Friday the 13th.

Graduated from high school, Mount St Helens blew up. The red dishes are beautiful and somehow appropriate.

This is the day my best friend and soul mate passed away. We were both 17. I wasn’t with him but he was being really stupid with some other friends, doing exactly what I made him promise not to do. They were driving on a highway where there were ruts in the road along the tire paths and it was raining buckets. They hydroplaned and the car swerved around and ended up in the opposite lane and were rear-ended. He was in the front passenger seat, and the back seat behind him became unbolted and the impact broke his neck in a second. The person behind him was badly hurt too.
Pretty sure I’ve spent the rest of my life being slightly resentful of every other person in the world for not being him. He would have turned 40 the other day.
Sometimes I feel bad that I don’t think about him for periods of time, but when I saw that people come here to find the picture of a certain day in history, I was already looking for this date before I even realized what I was doing. So know he’s still first in my heart. No one has ever loved me or understood me as purely as he did.

It’s amazing that whilst Hugh was going through this in his life, my mum had been rushed to have an emergency C- section to have me because I went into foetal distress and was also born flat so I also had to be revived. I find it so interesting to find out what else was happening the day I was born.

I’ve watched a video documentary of this website on Facebook and immediately searched the website and I’m glad that I found it. Jamie Livingston’s story was a heartfelt story that inspired me to pursue photography in the near future. I’m only 18 and I know there’s a long way ahead of me. Seeing these photos makes me wanna cry actually. This made me realize that tough times can really make a person stronger. Thank you very much guys. Wish you all the best. 🙂
