I was born the next day early in the morning holding hands with my twin brother, it seems like he didn’t take a picture on 2/2/88.

This was my mothers 19th birthday. Just six months and one day later, she would have me. It is crazy to think that on this day, at the age I am now, she was 3 months pregnant and celebrating her birthday in Southern California. It amazes me how strong she must have been. I am in college now and 500 miles away from her. I feel far from capable of raising a child at my age. Sometimes I look at my hands, and they look just like hers… just like hers did when I was little. I can’t imagine these hands buckleing a car seat and changing diapers instead of carrying books and taking notes. She gave up so much for me and I am so greatful to be where I am today, because of her. I hope one day I can be half the mother she is. I hope one day I can take care of her in the same loving way her hands took care of me when she was 19.

I really wanted to ride the ferris wheel and submerge her with my feelings. But we rode the rollercoaster and she drowned me with her heartaches. With her head on my shoulders, I felt at home with the night sky and I never wanted it to end.. I never really wanted to leave. But life is the darkness that engulfs your flame if it grew too bright. And I thought I was a matchstick that could ignite her once again, but I was still drenched from the ocean of her heartaches.

The day we cheated in life. We worked hard for months just for this day to happen… I never thought it would happen smoothly and I eventually thought it did. We rode the clouds and braved the streets. We sang to the moon and danced with the stars. This was my best memory and I hope it would be one of hers (if not, maybe just a part of her good memory).

21 years later here i am, lovely day to be born <3
