October 5th, the day of my birth, 1979 – the year of my mother’s birth… On this day, it’s amazing to think that my mother didn’t even realise that 20 years later she would have me… Although I have only looked through a minor amount of these photos, I already feel like I know him. As an aspiring photographer, looking through these photos is incredible, the dedication he put into this beautiful collection of polaroids was immense.

My dad, very drunk at the time, recently told me that I was concieved after a Rolling Stones concert, and if I was a boy he wanted to name me Mick after Mick Jagger. I was born in July 1998, so I did the math and googled Rolling Stones concerts October 1997, and the one near where I was born took place on October 17th. It’s so funny and sad to think that lives are created while others are deteriorating. It’s 5 am and I just learned Jamie’s story, and maybe it’s the time of night or head space I’m in, but it just feels so surreal to think about.

I turned 21 on that day. I hated college and was extremely depressed. We had a field hockey tournament away at Hanover college. I scored the winning goal and was carried off the field to my teammates singing happy birthday. Ended up being one of the best days I ever had during those 4 years.
