This was my 11th birthday. As requested, I received a Casio DBC-61 watch for my birthday. It was a big deal to me. With its flat built-in keyboard, you could store phone numbers, appointments, and alarms. It had a stopwatch, calculator, world clock, and I’m sure it had other features I’ve forgotten. It got plenty of use until I acquired gadgets with better technology such as a cell phone and definitely by the time I bought a personal digital assistant.

This was my 8th birthday. My family and I ate at Long John Silver’s for dinner which was my choice but the real highlight was my birthday gift: a Nintendo Entertainment System Action Set with two controllers, a Zapper, and a Super Mario Bros. & Duck Hunt cartridge. This day marked the beginning of my intermittent relationship with video games to continues to this day.
