8/12 my birthday, born in 82 but my mom was about to have my little sister and i was turning 10 that year. So awesome.

I turned 19 on this day. I still remember it today. I got my first cell phone, for emergencies only, because I was moving away to the city. Seattle. Finally! I have loved cities so much from then on. My dad also gave me a can of beat mace wrapped in a hunting sock to keep in my glove compartment. I still had my brother back then too.

My thirteenth birthday, and my first surprise party happened on this day. ❤️

I write this exactly ten years after this photograph was taken. I wonder about the man in the photograph and who he was to Jamie Livingston, if anyone at all. I wonder where he is, and if he knows that he’s part of an iconic photography project that inspires thousands of people every day.
For me, the project as a whole helps me to remember to appreciate the little snapshots in life. I will remember and immortalise in my mind the good days, just as Livingston did in his photographs.
