My mom’s 18th Birthday on this day, the year I was born in October. She’s loved and always brings love and laughter to her social groups. I feel this picture describes her perfectly. She had a rough year last year with her health, but I love to see her, remember her and picture her very similar to this woman.

I learned the story of Jamie and came here. Flipping through, and finding my birthday I felt horrible. I feel horrible that what makes these beautiful photos even more beautiful, and allowed so many others to experience them, was this man’s passing. So I kept going, and found this photo.

I am studying to be a Medical Laboratory Scientist and had to look up what these tests meant. Some people might see it as insignificant or a boring piece of paper telling a man what he might of already known. But every photo can connect with somebody. And no one cares, that’s alright. Nothing I write could convey how this photo made me feel. Nor could any photo he took convey how he felt on that day, including this one.

It’s beautiful, and sad, and I am thankful that these photos were shared.

This is the day a 7.2 earthquake rocked us in the Bay Area, CA. The A”s and the Giants were in the World Series, It was called “The Battle of the Bay”, but the quake shone brighter.

The best day of my life. I gave birth to my son, Jake.

The day I left my country of birth, my home.
Young and full of wonder little did I know the full meaning of the start of this adventure. How from then the number of times I would sit with my parents and enjoy small talk and just being there was now finite, able to be counted on my hands. How having family in two countries means that there is never a time when all can be there for the others. As my children grow up and my family at home grow old, caught in the middle I feel as though the circle of life is somehow disjointed.
It’s an odd feeling to belong in two places. Especially when that feeling is complete in neither.

I was born on this day in Malaysia

This is the day I was born. I don’t remember it.

On this day our mother gave birth to us(my twin sis) 😃👭

I was born on this day too. It’s so sad to think he only have a few more moments to capture before he passed away, while I was just starting my life.

My parents were married in this same sunshine on this day! 28 years this year and 4 kids later!

This is the day I was born. Seeing this picture and knowing Jamies story hits me very deeply; I’ve actually been doing this exact same thing for the past 3 years! I started my Photo A Day on January 1, 2014 and I’ve taken a picture every day since– just like Jamie did. Seeing his work and hearing his story is incredibly moving, and the fact that I’ve unknowingly been doing the same thing is really special to me. Thank you for sharing his work!
