This was my 6th birthday celebrated in Woodside, Queens, NY. My family moved from Philippines (where I was born) a couple months before and we were visiting my father’s family until we found a place in Laurel, MD.

I was born on this beautiful day. I came here to see what this site had to offer and I was moved. To tears.

I love normalcy and simplicity because there is such a complex story behind it. Today, as I lay in tears by this mans story, I somehow feel better.

This was the day I was born. I am now a 19 year old art and photography student at UCSB. Jamie Livingston’s photos are beautiful, simple reminders that art is everywhere in each of our lives. I needed that today, thank you.

The day this photo was taken, I was born. I saw the film about Jamie and this site on facebook, and it inspired me to hopefully be able to take more photos of the normal da, not just the fancy things we do in our life. =)

This photo is of a double play to end the 5th inning in Shea Stadium with the Dodger’s John Tudor pitching to the Met’s Mookie Wilson who was out on a swinging 3rd strike. This photo catches Dwight Gooden’s attempt to steal second and being thrown out to end the inning.

What does this photo say about Jamie? It seems clear that, on this day at least, his camera was at his fingertips and he snapped what he saw as an important moment from that game. We can’t know whether he took only this one photo on that day, or took many and selected this one. We can’t know if he caught this shot at the time it happened, on a replay, or maybe later on the news. Whatever the facts, it’s an interesting moment from on of Jamie’s days.

I was born on the same day as my grandmother. I never met her, she passed the same year I was born. But she told my mother that I would be born on her birthday, even though that would make me 2 weeks early. I treasure my birthday because of this. Like I said: Thank you Jamie. It’s beautiful.
