I was born to a young single mother on this day. She took special care in naming me. While in the hospital, a Christmas special with the Cabbage Patch kids was on TV. One of the kids had the same exact first and middle name as myself. She refused to ever buy me a cabbage patch doll since. I love and miss you so much Momma.

In the earliest hours of this day I experienced a general discomfort and as the day progressed it got a bit rough. I packed a small bag and when evening came, my husband took me to the clinic and that night my oldest daughter came into the word.

I’m not sure if they are smoking or not, it might be a pen? Difficult to make out. 1997 is not so long ago that there weren’t already tons of common sense smoking regulations. Certainly everywhere that I live (South Africa) already had a lot of non-smoking areas at least a few years before that, early 1990 etc. And definitely in hospitals, airplanes etc..
There also comes a point when it doesn’t matter anymore, so there’s that.
