I was born on this day, twenty-two years ago. It’s funny; there are some Polaroid pictures my parents took in the hospital that day and the subsequent days after. To other people my age, Polaroids are ancient history by now. But it’s nice that I was able to come in at a time when there was still some overlap. And it’s also nice to see how a different place in the world looked on that day.

This is my boyfriend’s birthday and year. My mother was born 3 days before the pictures started and for myself. He passed. And I was born 7 days after the pictures stop. There is only so much a picture a day can show but a picture a day for almost 19 years is more than many can contribute to this world. I find it strange but oddly nice how I don’t have a date in his story. I am my own individual and just came to look at my day. Selfish. We humans are very selfish, not always a bad thing or in a bad way. But, we are. Looking to find clarity in ourselves through others. But we really don’t need to see and experience others’ lives to understand our own lives. I learned something to day. Maybe others will too.

I was born on this day, early morning. The day after Ash Wednesday. I was already running almost 2 weeks late to my own delivery date. My parents tell me I nearly died thanks to the umbilical cord trying to choke me on the way out of the womb. The nurse trying to place an oxygen mask to resuscitate me was shaking and too nervous, so my father snatched it out of her hands and got it on me in one try! I didn’t actually get to go home for a few days, but ever since then I’ve never been on time to anything in my life. It’s mostly because I oversleep a lot and I have a very casual/relaxed approach to life and messes.
I love that this picture is of someone laying in bed, clearly well into the day with some junk/trash littered next to the bed because i’m literally the same person. I’m so thankful for Jamie!
